Pick up from Katunayake International Airport. You have a choice of accommodation in Colombo, or Negombo , a seaside resort and fishing village very close to the airport.




Head north, first stopping at the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage to see the jumbos, big and small, bathing and having fun. On the way, climb Dambulla, the fascinating rock temple with Buddha statues carved out of the rock inside the caves.




Habarana is mid-way to the ancient cities of Anuradhapura dating back to 400 BC, still dotted with many of Sri Lanka's important dagabas and Polonnaruwa adorned with his¬toric ruins of centuries-old temples and palaces.



One of the biggest natural harbours in the world, Trincomalee is only 2 hours away, and you arrive with ample time for a city tour and a visit to the Koneswaran Hindu temple with the Swami Rock that rises 100 metres from the sea.



An interesting place to visit is the Pigeon Island, now a breeding ground for migratory birds, which was originally used by the British during the second world war for target practice. Pigeon Island is also an excellent location for game snorkeling. You will also visit Velgam Vihara, a Buddhist temple known to Hindus as the Natanar Kovil and the only example of a Tamil vihara.


Arrive in Kandy, the Hill Capital set around a languid lake. First enjoy a city tour. The city is famous for Sri Lanka's most sacred site that houses the Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha - Dalada Maligawa. While in Kandy you will visit this historic site with its ornate murals; view a traditional Kandyan dance performance and visit a gem pit where precious stones are mined.




Walk through an unrivalled collection of trees, plants and flowers at the sixty hectare, beautifully landscaped, Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya close to Kandy; visit a tea factory where the two leaves and a bud nimbly plucked are dried and processed into the world's best cuppa. Arrive in the cool hills of Nuwara Eliya in time for a city tour.




Trek through the Haggala Botanical Gardens, famous for its roses, and the on to World's End for a breath-taking view from a sheer drop at an altitude of 1500 metres. The plains are renowned for rare species of fauna and flora.




Travel across the scenic countryside passing picturesque paddy fields to Colombo and stay the night at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel or The Hilton.




Tour the city of Colombo and shop for clothes, tea and artifacts, gems and jewellery, that Sri Lanka is famous for before you drive to the Airport well in time to catch your return flight.
